Nutrition and Development Conference - Washington DC
The Washington Conference and Workshop is held in Washington DC and is divided into two programs, a conference and a workshop. The objective for the conference is to encourage open dialogue on a wide array of topics relative to food aid and nutrition. The theme of the workshop is to discuss projects that the WISHH program has undertaken with certain PVOs, and to give various industry, shipping, and PVO representatives a chance to discuss the logistics involved in using various soy products.

Midwest Soy Protein Workshop

The Midwest Soy Protein Workshop is held at the National Soybean Research Laboratory at the University of Illinois in Champaign. The Workshop hosts' representatives of PVOs, U.S. government officials, soybean farmer and industry leaders to discuss the role of soy in international food assistance programs. The workshop provides new information about soy and soy products that can play a valuable role in meeting people's immediate and long-term nutritional needs as well as fit into sustainable economic development programs. This is a terrific opportunity for participants to hear about soy, see its many uses demonstrated, and ask the experts about how their specific international programs can benefit. Attendees have benefited from the interaction with industry representatives as they explore how to expand the use of soy in their food aid programs around the world.
The 2009 Workshop topics included nutrition and food aid, HIV nutrition, cooking with soy, farm visit, industry tour, school feeding, microenterprise, calculating protien in food trials, and more.
