WSF Provides Updates on Central America and Haiti to State Organizations
February 18, 2010...Source: ASA Leader Letter...Nathan Ruby, Executive Director of the American Soybean Association's World Soy Foundation (WSF), traveled through Minnesota and Iowa to meet with Corporate Founding Donors SunOpta Inc. and Natural Products Inc., as well as Cargill and WSF Board Members.
The meetings provided an opportunity to share details of Ruby’s recent trip to Central America and update them on the success of the Soy Cow projects, as well as the Cargill-sponsored Corporate Social Responsibility conference hosted by WSF on Feb. 24-25 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Topics also included the status of WSF’s Haiti Relief and Development work. As efforts in Haiti change from immediate relief to long-term development of the social, political and economic structure of Haiti, WSF is committed to long-term development by helping provide inexpensive and highly nutritious soy protein to the children and families of Haiti.
Ruby also joined the North Dakota Soybean Growers Association and the North Dakota Soybean Council for their annual meeting. Ruby shared updates on the Acre Challenge, which several producers at the meeting looked forward to joining this year.
